“Rekindled by Faith … in Prayer, in Heritage, in Joy”

Annual Conference May 26 - 30, 2009

Watch here for more information as it becomes available.

Bishop Marcus Matthews announced new dates for the North Central New York Annual Clergy Session and Annual Conference.

Recognizing that most laity and clergy will want to worship in their own local churches on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2009, the dates have been changed.  By posting these dates early on, local churches have amble opportunity to select Lay delegates to Annual Conference who can make arrangements to attend.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE UPDATE

There is a major renovation project in process at the Holiday Inn – Liverpool , site of Annual Conference. The main session space and new display area space are completed and will enhance our event. However, the Ballroom, hotel lobby, and restaurant areas are affected, as well as 2-1/2 floors of sleeping rooms. We will appreciate your patience in dealing with these challenges. The location of Conference events will be posted on the bulletin board near the Information Desk.

One third of the Ballroom is occupied by the temporary location of the hotel's restaurant. So, for the Pre-Conference Briefing and the Prayer Encounter, the space available is somewhat smaller than anticipated, but should be able to accommodate us if we fill in the empty seats. (This might mean sitting next to someone you don't know!)

The hotel's “front desk and lobby” is in the Ballroom Foyer. Please remember that the hotel staff is more challenged by this than we are. As a result, the Get Out meeting location will be the Convention Center entrance.

The Business Center will be located in Room 336.

Displays and Cokesbury Bookstore will all be located in the new Cotillion Rooms 2 and 3. ProCheck Health Screening will be in Cotillion 1.

Probably the most disruptive impact is the need to house a number of our participants at the Comfort Inn on Buckley Road . Those persons will be advised this week so they are prepared for that necessity. Shuttles can be arranged through the hotels.

While we are in session, cell phones should be OFF , not just on vibrate, because they interfere with the sound system and, more importantly, we will be in Holy Conferencing. A phone number you can share with persons at home is the Holiday Inn main line: 315-457-1122; during sessions callers may ask for the United Methodist Conference registration desk or extension 7847. Staff members will attempt to deliver messages and messages will also be posted on the bulletin board.

We also ask that people not connect to the internet while we are in Holy Conferencing. It is distracting to your neighbors, and the use of internet bandwidth will disrupt the video streaming of our Conference to those who cannot be with us in person.

Conference Secretary Dale Austin will set the bar of Conference to designate the voting area. There will be different nametags to distinguish between voting and non-voting participants. Our lists are derived from the lay leadership data reported by the local churches . Clarifications around membership will be handled by the Conference Secretary.
