Reverend Jefferson Niles, Methodist Minister from the Caribbean will be a visiting pastor in NCNY Conference for the months of June and July 2009

He is on three months of sabbatical leave from the Methodist Church in the Caribbean and the Americas and will be a guest preacher in several of our churches across the Conference Area. Rev. Niles will be a great resource for enriching our congregations this summer. Apart from preaching appointments for eight (8) Sundays in June and July, he is also available for some weekday Bible study sessions or Adult Education Forum on Sunday mornings as well. Rev. Niles will also be assisting in some orientation/informational sessions in preparation for the “Self-Directed Peer Learning Program” to the Caribbean.
Reverend Jefferson Niles is a native of Anguilla. He is the second of five children born to Mr. Collins Niles and Mrs. Vivian Niles, nee Romney. He spent the early years of his life in St. Thomas and attended the Apostolic Faith School in Smith Bay and worshipped at the Wesley Methodist congregation in Tutu and attended its Sunday school. Reverend Niles is now the pastor of the Wesley Methodist congregation.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology from the University of the West Indies (UWI). He was accepted as a candidate for the Methodist ministry in January 1987 and attended the United Theological College of the West Indies (UTCWI), Jamaica. He was ordained in Antigua in 1994. Reverend Niles also holds a Master of Arts degree in Education (MAE) from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI).
Reverend Niles has worked as a Circuit minister in the following Circuits of the Methodist Church in the Leeward Islands District: Nevis (1991 – 1993), Antigua (1993 – 1996), Dominica (1996 – 2001) and St. Thomas/ St. John (2001 to present). He currently serves as the General Secretary for the Resources and Development Department of the Leeward Islands District.
Reverend Niles is married to Lorna Annette Niles, nee Hughes, also a native of Anguilla and an Early Childhood Education teacher. Their marriage took place on July 20, 1991. They have two children, a daughter, Jeffrine Annissa (16), a Junior at the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, and a son, Japheth Ajani (10), a 4th grader at the Joseph A. Gomez Elementary School. Reverend Niles enjoys jogging, swimming and reading. He serves as Chaplain on the St. Thomas/St. John Christian Council.
