The school obtains the permit
for use by the church

The Planning Commission approved a permit for the Chronos private academy to use the space of the Redwood Presbyterian Church.

The move could accommodate up to 32 students in grades three to eight, according to an urban planning report. The school would use three classrooms and administrative space on weekdays at the church, which is on Magnolia Avenue south of the city center.

“Chronos Academy has prepared a traffic management plan to encourage the safe and systematic drop-off and pick-up of students in order to have little or no impact on the surrounding neighborhood,” the report said. “In addition, due to the small size of the class and the nature of the proposed use, the operation will not create excessive noise, pose no identifiable hazard to surrounding residential properties.”

The commission approved the request with conditions in a 4-0 vote on Tuesday, said Neal Toft, director of planning and construction.


The city updates the rules
for leaf blower

City council proposed a ban on gasoline leaf blowers and new time restrictions for electric leaf blowers and landscaping tools.

The council unanimously adopted the new rules by adopting the consent schedule on Tuesday. It voted to approve the updated ordinance at its September 22 meeting.

The ban applies to two-stroke leaf blowers. On residential properties, the use of electric fans has been restricted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. On the other properties, the tools can be used from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Devices are prohibited on Sundays and public holidays.


The planning board disappears
project in the West End

The city’s planning commission has approved a residential construction project in the West End.

The project involves the reconfiguration of the lot lines at 52 and 54 Fremont Road, adjacent parcels which also abut Marquand Avenue. The applicants want to modify the 2,478 square foot house on one of the lots and add an apartment to it. For the other parcel, the applicants proposed to construct a 2,492 square foot house.

The commission voted 7-0 on Tuesday to recommend that city council approve the request, said Dave Hogan, a town planner. The Design Review Board will review the project before it reaches the board, Hogan said.


The police will conclude
public forum series

The final installment of the Tiburon Police Department’s community outreach series is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.
