EHS CLASS OF 1972: The Elkins High School class of 1972 will hold their initial planning meeting for a 50th grade reunion. The meeting will take place at Elkins City Park today at 5:30 p.m. All class members are asked to come up with ideas for a meeting to be held in 2022. LANTERN TOURS: Scary and Mysterious Tales – join the ever popular Lantern Tours on October 8, 9, 15 and 16 at the Beverly Heritage Center. Host Karl takes the group on a nighttime walking tour of Beverly with only lantern light guiding our way. For tickets, see our calendar of events at beverlyheritagecenter.org.
FALL ON THE DRY FORK: The drive-through event will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. until all meals are sold out. The event will take place behind the Old Mill, just off Route 32, on the site of the Dry Fork Recreation Center in Harman. Roast pork and barbecue chicken dinners will include beans, coleslaw, rolls and bottled water. Apple butter and homemade apple cider will also be available. Due to COVID-19, you are asked to stay in your car. Meals will be take out only. There will be a virtual auction on Facebook, but no entertainment, vendors or additional activities this year.
BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph Lodge IOOF will be hosting a Sourdough Buckwheat Breakfast at Lodge Hall on Beverly Five-lane on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat pancakes, pancakes, sausages, cookies and gravy, eggs, coffee, milk or orange juice. Takeout orders will be available.
CEMETERY MEETING: The meeting at Greenwood Cemetery will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the East Dailey Presbyterian Church. All relatives of those buried in the cemetery are invited to attend.
Health Screening: Elkins Kiwanis is sponsoring his Health Awareness Screening October 16-23 at Randolph County Senior Center from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. For more information, please call 1-800-524-3414.
TYGART VALLEY HOMESTEAD ASSOCIATION: will meet at 6 p.m. on October 12 at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. All are invited and residents of the community are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Tom Rennix, President, at 304-940-1855.
WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: Jubilee Outreach Ministries will be hosting their Fall Women’s Conference on Friday October 15 at Jubilee Outreach Ministries in Mill Creek. The speaker will be Pastor Rena Perozich. She will minister on Climb That Mountain. Refreshments at 6 p.m. and services at 7 p.m. All women are invited to attend. No registration fees. FALL FESTIVAL: The 25th Annual Tennerton United Methodist Church Buckhannon Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. , and trash treasures. Wearing the mask inside the building. Profits will go to church projects.
MEAT TOWER: VFW Post 5781 will be hosting a meat shoot from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on October 16 at the post house in Harman. Refreshments will be provided. The next shoot is scheduled for November 20. For more information, contact Danie Ours at 304-227-4349.
HALLOWEEN PARADE: The fairs and festivals of Tygarts Valley will host a Halloween parade on October 16. The parade schedule is scheduled for 1 p.m. at George Ward Elementary School. Twirlettes, dancers, children and all participants are welcome to the parade which will start at 2 p.m. Trophies will be awarded. For more information, call 304-940-2546.
HEALTH FAIR: Valley Health Care will be hosting a health fair at the Beverly Fire Hall on October 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Regular and high dose flu shots will be available at the event. VHC will also be doing basic laboratory screenings at the fair. Fasting is compulsory for certain screenings. No appointment is necessary and for more information call 304-636-0133.
HALLOWEEN HUSTLE: Beverly Elementary School will host the Halloween Hustle 5K on October 22 in Elkins Town Square. Register online at www.raceentry.com/races/halloween-hustle/2021/register. Register before October 15 to have the guarantee of a t-shirt.
NATIONAL SOCIETY OF HONOR EHS: Will host a 5K run / walk and 1 Mile Kids Fun Run on Saturday, October 23. The 5 km will start at 3 p.m. will start at 1 p.m. and cost $ 20 per person for the 5k and $ 5 per child for the fun run. Each pre-registered 5k participant will receive a free T-shirt. RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETRAITE SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will be holding its October meeting on Friday, October 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Beverly. Dinner costs $ 12. One must reserve. Call 304-636-7649 no later than October 19 for reservations and / or information.
HELPING HAND CLEARINGHOUSE: collects the names of children in need for the FOP Christmas party, in Randolph County only. Children 12 and under. Must provide proof of income. The deadline is November 10. Hours are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at 105 First Street.
AL-ANON: meets at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
