Based on the blockbuster film, Sister act is the wellness musical smash that makes audiences jump! With original music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (News, The beauty and the Beast, Little shop of horrors), this uplifting musical has been nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. In addition to music by Menken, the musical features lyrics by Glenn Slater and a book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner. Sister act takes place November 2-14 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Houston Arboretum presents soul group Tomar and FCs

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center presents “Concert in the Courtyard,” a live music event on Friday, November 12th featuring soul band Tomar and the CF performing in the Nature Center Courtyard from 6 pm to 9 pm. Waffleolicious food truck, raffle prizes and the sights and sounds of nature, promising lots of fun for all ages. Families with young children are welcome. The opening act for Tomar and the CF is The Mighty Orq. The Arboretum is located at 4501 Woodway Dr. in Houston. Discovery Green presents Mosaic of Light by HYBYCOZO this winter

This winter, discover new ways of seeing form, light and shadow with the immersive art experience: Light mosaic by the artist collective HYBYCOZO in Discovery Green. The installation will be visible every day during the park’s opening hours from November 12, 2021 to February 27, 2022. The exhibition consists of 24 laser-cut metal sculptures. Site-specific signage will be placed along Brown Drive, or hung from the voluminous oak trees, and illuminated from within at night. During the day, the sculptures are gold jewels that sparkle in the sun. Visitors are invited to share their experiences using the hashtag #mosaicoflight. The Mosaic Music Lounge is scheduled from Friday November 11, 2021 to February 27, 2022 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. except December 3, 24 and 31 and January 14, 2022. More information is available at

City Hall Public Safety with District A Councilor Amy Peck

Join the Houston City Council, District A, on Saturday, November 13 at Agnes Moffit Park for the City Hall Public Safety and Community BBQ. Everything is calm, everything is bright with the lights of the zoo

It’s the season for TXU Energy presents Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo! This year, the zoo will celebrate its 10th anniversary as one of Houston’s most beloved holiday traditions. From November 15 to January 9, guests will be able to take in the sights and sounds of the season as they walk through the wonderful transformed winter. They will enjoy the zoo’s beautiful gardens illuminated by eco-friendly LED bulbs and can sip their hot chocolate near one of the smore-making stations or walk through the 125-foot-long Infinity Light Tunnel. Santa returns to his workshop to take pictures with all the good little boys and girls. Zoo Lights is a separate ticket event, held daily from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with the last admission at 9:30 p.m. The zoo closes for the day at 4:00 p.m. and reopens at 5:30 p.m. Tickets will not be available at the door and must be purchased online. Afterlife Aspirations pits the old against the new for the HIP Houston ensemble

Houston, Texas, October 12, 2021 – Grammy-nominated early music ensemble Ars Lyrica Houston is staging the first of two operas staged this season in a program called Eternity and the Underworld. Historically Informed Interpretation (HIP) is the hallmark of Ars Lyrica’s performances, which will be presented in Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata Ich habe genug BWV 82 as well as in a contemporary opera by Jonathan Dove, L’altra Eurydice (L ‘ other Eurydice) for and modern instruments. St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Presents World Premiere by Famous Composer Goodall

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church (St. Luke’s UMC) once again welcomes award-winning and world-renowned British composer Howard Goodall as he conducts the world premiere of his new choral work Unconditional Love on Sunday, November 14. This special piece was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic and additionally focuses on the Thanksgiving theme. St. Luke’s Chancel Choir presents the world premiere as its first post-pandemic “recovery” project. The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The Houston Symphony announced today that tickets for its 2021-22 PNC Family Series concerts are on sale. The PNC family series opens on December 4, 2021 with musical director Andrés Orozco-Estrada leading the Nutcracker musical treats for kids! There are two performances at Jones Hall on each concert date at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. .
