The beautification project at 100 Front Street in downtown Texarkana continues this Sunday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. as Red River Softwash lends its services by gently washing the exterior brick and concrete of the Amtrak station. Their work follows cleanup and prep work done Jan. 3 by Parkerson Lawn and Landscape. The Red River Softwash works will be followed by the installation of new plants and landscaping which will be supplied by Cox Exterior Design and Development. Other plans include new signage welcoming rail riders and rail enthusiasts, installing a canopy to protect against the weather, installing festive lighting, a backdrop for a photo shoot and the refreshment of garbage cans.

The area around the Amtrak station serves as an introduction to our city for passing travelers and a recreational destination for train enthusiasts. As the revitalization of downtown Texarkana progresses, the station is important in representing both our past and our future as the hub of the southern United States. Businesses and citizens have the opportunity to sponsor other parts of the beautification project. All donations will be recognized by on-site signage. This project is led, planned and executed by a team from the Texarkana Leadership Class of 2022.
