Enterprize Challenge finalists announced for North Okanagan – Vernon Morning Star

It’s a night that has been brewing for two years. After a canceled challenge in 2020 and a virtual showcase in 2021, the next generation of North Okanagan entrepreneurs are ready to share their businesses with the community – live.

The seventh annual Community Futures North Okanagan (CFNO) Enterprize Challenge returns to the stage at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Center on April 27.

Hosted by CFNO and presenting sponsor VantageOne Credit Union, the 2022 Enterprize Challenge matched 20 aspiring entrepreneurs with local business mentors. Between early February and the final pitch on April 27, participants refined their pitch by participating in online workshops and individual coaching.

The challenge culminates in an evening of Dragons Den-style live pitches where a panel of volunteer judges selects a winner to take home seed money as well as thousands of dollars in business service packages. The event will also be streamed live for online viewing.

This year’s diverse and nature-friendly finalists include:

Louis Saitowitz, Poultry from the Okanagan Foothills

A small poultry farm, raising up to 2,000 birds per year and offering poultry processing to local farmers. Under Saitowitz’s new leadership, Okanagan Foothills Poultry will expand to partner with local landowners, who have at least five acres of property, to raise poultry. As a result, landowners gain farm status and the tax benefits that come with it while allowing Okanagan Foothills Poultry to raise more birds on their land. As the business continues to grow, Saitowitz plans to work with local grocers to sell the company’s fresh, sustainable poultry. Going forward, Saitowitz is looking to use his connections as a Red Seal chef to partner with local restaurants to promote the Okanagan Foothills Poultry.
